Hello, if you’re reading this then I am really really happy to have you here. I intend to write in a fairly loose uninhibited way about the things that interest me, drive me creatively and also just musings on life, adventures, lovely things I’ve seen and I’d also like to share some of my work with you.
So before I had a website ten or so years ago, I had a blog! And now here I am, back with a Journal and I’m rather excited about having this completely free space to write and share a few images with you.
Time
It is the Tuesday following, Storm Dudley, Eunice and Franklin. Remarkably amongst this crazy weather we ventured off up to the border between Lancashire and Cumbria…
Place
I’ll let you into a secret, it is one of my very favourite places in the world. Silverdale and Arnside, ahhh it is a truly magical place, vast expanses of sea, light, sky, morecambe bay mud and limestone landscapes where wild orchids grow, rare butterflies dance and real fairies work their magic (well I tell my daughter this). Aaannnnnd of course lots of BIRDS. Much of this area is managed by either the National Trust or the RSPB, it is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and because of this the wildlife thrives.
Birds
The top species spotted on our little trip away were Oystercatcher, Snipe and Shovelers but the highlight was the Starling Murmurations. And oh my goodness, our patience paid off at dusk on the RSPB Leighton Moss Nature Reserve. The sky eventually filled with 100’s of thousands of Starlings, it brought tears to my eyes. We were overwhelmed by the sight and sounds of so many birds, their twisting and turning in complete unison, this innate force that brings them together. AMAZING!
